Food Tasting

I realised that I have yet to post a post on food tasting..


We had our food tasting on 30 June.. and was quite worried that AH could not arrived in time as he was on reservist that week..


Dinner was supposed to start at 7.30pm but food was only served about 8pm as we waited for my sis who worked late..and AH came late due to his reservist & jam on the road..

Five Happiness Combination 
五福临门大拼盘
(Fresh Prawn Salad, Marinated Spicy Jellyfish, Braised Duck, Pipa Bean Curd, Deep-fried Crispy Prawn)

The food portion was just enough for 10 people, even thou AH's dad complained that the portion was too little for 10.  Braised duck was surprisingly tender and 卤的够味.  The only complaint was the jelly fish was too spicy for our liking, given our feedback to ask the kitchen to make it less spicer on our AD.. 

Braised Shark’s Fin with Crabmeat
    

The soup was really salty!! We were quite disappointed with this dish as AH has been craving for shark's fin soup for the longest time.. Spoke to the chef after the dinner and he explained to us that the stock base used for the soup was boiled for a very long time and all the essence of the ingredients used are in the stock.. He was really proud of this dish I can say.. 

Poached Live Prawns
     

The prawns were really fresh and sweet!! Love this dish man! The only hassle was peeling the shell off the prawn.. I think this is the most worth it dish among the prawn choice.. The brides of OH thread was commenting that the other prawn dishes used frozen prawns to cook, so not that fresh.. The soy sauce dip was very yummy too, can say 锦上添花!

Steamed Garoupa in Hong Kong Style
     

The garoupa was kind of tough, but still edible.. The sauce was just nice, not too sweet or too oily.. Think the older folks like it.

Stewed Pork Ribs in Homemade Sauce
  

The portion for this was huge!! I couldn't finish my portion of this dish.. The sauce is nice, but it would be even better if there's a bowl of white rice to go along with it.. This dish was not very well received because it's too "gelar" for our liking.. But unique dish I would say, haven't ate this at weddings..

Braised Sliced Abalone with Whole Conpoy and Spinach
      

The conpoys were too salty but I guess that's the nature of that ingredient... Usually conpoy are used in Cantonese dishes for soup.. The abalone compliment well with the salty nature of the conpoy.. 

Stewed Double Happiness E-fu Noodles
    

No comments cause as I only took a bite, was too full from the rest of the dishes to eat that.. But from the feedback from the rest, it was not bad.. :)

Chilled Mango Puree with Pomelo and Sago
   

My all-time favorite dessert!! Just that it wasn't chilled enough.. 

Can't wait for AD!!!
