11th Anniversary

We celebrated our 11th year anniversary on Friday at Morton's The Steakhouse.

AH had made a booking 1 month ago, since this restaurant is really popular with both the local Singaporeans & tourists.. But when he called to re-confirm our reservation on Friday, they said we do not  have a reservation! Thank God they managed to squeeze us else we would be so lost without a place to celebrate on a Friday evening..

Its a HUGE loaf of bread which is such a waste to be serving at every table, cause I see most people just pinch some of it to try and the rest just got thrown away.

The scallops were really fresh and huge! AH loves this much 

New York Strip Steak

Huge piece of steak (560g) and its shared between 2 of us.. The staff is really nice to split the portion for us and this steak is one of the nicest steaks I've eaten in my life.. 

Dessert - Chocolate Lava Cake

my all time favorite dessert served with vanilla ice cream. Perfect!

Flower Power!

I always have loved flowers.. loved receiving flowers during special occasions, be it birthday, valentines' day or anniversary..

I am very pleased with all the floral arrangements we had for our wedding.. from our PS in USA till our actual wedding day..

Pre-wedding (I)

Plum calla lillies, black magic roses and pink orchids

Blogged about our pre-wedding bridal bouquet before we set off to US.. AH is super in love with this bouquet of flowers and is one of the most expensive bunch of flowers he has ever bought in his life..We loved the unique plum calla lilies as those calla lilies that we've seen in Singapore are the boring white/yellow ones..

When our florist sent us a photo of the bouquet he got the inspiration, we were not impressed by how the flowers look.  They kind of pale in comparison with our US PS bouquet, which is more vibrant in color.  But we were "wowed" by it when we saw in on the day of our PS.. Never feel greenish looking flowers are so pretty! AH always gives me pink or red flowers throughout our courtship, since pink is my all time fave color.. The red hypericum has a 画龙点睛effect..

I LOVE MY AD FLOWERS!! Hot pink has been the color of my life.. Almost everything that I owned is hot pink in color.. Love the vibrancy of hot pink! My AD hand bouquet is a cascading bouquet & its the first time ever that I'm having such floral arrangement.. The bouquet is really huge compared to the standard hand bouquet.. And I have to be constantly reminded to hold it in the right orientation.. Oh ya, my nephew loves the ivy leaves coming out from the bouquet that he conveniently pulled one of leaves out during our family shoot.

Miss to Mrs

It's coming to 3 weeks since we've gotten married..

Still trying to get used to:
- wearing the wedding band on my left 4th finger, used to be wearing our couple ring on right 4th finger
- calling our parents "pa" and "ma"
- staying at his place & adjusting my traveling time to work/church etc
- staying in-between my parents' and his house.. my stuff are separated into 2 locations.. feels very lost when some days I feel like wearing a certain top to work and to realize its at his house..
- calling AH "my husband" instead of "boyfriend".. can't blame me hor.. I've been addressing him as my "boyfriend" for the past 11 years.. and its only 3 weeks since we've been married..
- people calling me "MRS".. sounds damn old! [good thing that most of my colleagues and all my students doesn't know I'm married.. so happily calling me "MISS"]

I loved how the background music blends in with the story line.. I have to admit that my acting and narration skills sucks.. Nevertheless, enjoyed the whole process of filming (minus the part that I was bitten by mosquitoes at Thye Kheng Gardens)..

There was a hiccup during the banquet.. This video was supposed to show before we came in for first march-in.. But somehow the hotel staff mixed this up with the pre-wedding photo montage.. They thought that we supposed to come in once the pre-wedding photo montage ends.. Despite this they managed to play it once the first dish was served.. Oh well one good point is that we could see how our guests react when we watched the video together with them..

I'm glad that our guests enjoyed the video as much as we do.. Enjoy :)

Same Day Edit

I love my SDE!!!

I was so touched by AH when he started crying the moment my dad walked me down the aisle.. It has been really a long journey for both of us (11 years) & I thought that he would react as per normal since he is the most unromantic man I've ever known.. And he was so caught up preparing for our AD and also have not prepared his thank-you speech.. Melts my heart totally :)

I am so glad that I've overcome my psychological barrier and chosen this song for our SDE... Reason being I thought that using an English song would be more suitable since most of the friends we knew are English-speaking.. The first time when I heard this song over the radio, I was already captivated by and then when I watched the SDE of 范范 & 黑人.. I knew right away I'm gonna use this song!  The meaning of this song is so apt for weddings!!!

GRADUATED!!

We had a pre-wedding photo shoot session with Bernard on 4 Jul.. It was part of the AD package that we had with him.. Wanted to remove it from the package, but thought that since I had no photos of my AD WG and EG might as well just have some photos on it.. I guess on AD, it will be super duper jam packed with activities to do proper PS..

Holy Matrimony Invitation

DIY-ed my own holy matrimony invitation!! 

Since our HM is a small scale event, with about 30 invited guests.. We just the normal photo printing shop to print it for us.. 1 piece is about $0.70, slightly more than our wedding inserts.. AH is making some fuss out of it.. but no choice.. Not practically to go over JB, ask T&T to print as they can only print min. 50 pieces.. Don't want the remaining 20+ pieces to collect dust anyway...

Wedding Inserts

I super heart our wedding inserts!!!

And the best part is they are not expensive at all!! We collected our wedding cards from T-Dragon and they showed us the samples of their wedding inserts.. AH & I were totally not impressed at all, and they are expensive.. 

Back to my trusty SGBrides Forum, managed to find a cheap and good quality printer across the crossway.. Quite a number of BTBs that I know of, printed their inserts from them.. One of the cheapest printing companies!

Most of my friends who received our invitation cards commented that they looked expensive.. Due to the full colour and insertion of our photo... Super loved cheap yet expensive looking stuff!!

Food Tasting

I realised that I have yet to post a post on food tasting..

We had our food tasting on 30 June.. and was quite worried that AH could not arrived in time as he was on reservist that week..

Dinner was supposed to start at 7.30pm but food was only served about 8pm as we waited for my sis who worked late..and AH came late due to his reservist & jam on the road..

Five Happiness Combination 

五福临门大拼盘

(Fresh Prawn Salad, Marinated Spicy Jellyfish, Braised Duck, Pipa Bean Curd, Deep-fried Crispy Prawn)

The food portion was just enough for 10 people, even thou AH's dad complained that the portion was too little for 10.  Braised duck was surprisingly tender and 卤的够味.  The only complaint was the jelly fish was too spicy for our liking, given our feedback to ask the kitchen to make it less spicer on our AD.. 

Braised Shark’s Fin with Crabmeat

蟹 肉 烩 生 翅

The soup was really salty!! We were quite disappointed with this dish as AH has been craving for shark's fin soup for the longest time.. Spoke to the chef after the dinner and he explained to us that the stock base used for the soup was boiled for a very long time and all the essence of the ingredients used are in the stock.. He was really proud of this dish I can say.. 

Poached Live Prawns

白 灼 游 水 生 虾

The prawns were really fresh and sweet!! Love this dish man! The only hassle was peeling the shell off the prawn.. I think this is the most worth it dish among the prawn choice.. The brides of OH thread was commenting that the other prawn dishes used frozen prawns to cook, so not that fresh.. The soy sauce dip was very yummy too, can say 锦上添花！

Steamed Garoupa in Hong Kong Style

香 港 式 蒸 石 斑

The garoupa was kind of tough, but still edible.. The sauce was just nice, not too sweet or too oily.. Think the older folks like it.

Stewed Pork Ribs in Homemade Sauce

京 烤 骨

The portion for this was huge!! I couldn't finish my portion of this dish.. The sauce is nice, but it would be even better if there's a bowl of white rice to go along with it.. This dish was not very well received because it's too "gelar" for our liking.. But unique dish I would say, haven't ate this at weddings..

Braised Sliced Abalone with Whole Conpoy and Spinach

The conpoys were too salty but I guess that's the nature of that ingredient... Usually conpoy are used in Cantonese dishes for soup.. The abalone compliment well with the salty nature of the conpoy..

No comments cause as I only took a bite, was too full from the rest of the dishes to eat that.. But from the feedback from the rest, it was not bad.. :)

Hen's Night!

My lovely & awesome bunch of JM and one of my girlfriends came together to organize a hen's night for me.. Had to have the party much earlier before AD coz I need to prepare for my upcoming exams in 3rd week of Jul and HY is going for a holiday next week till end Jul.. 

Dinner was @ Waraku (one of my fave Jap restaurant) and we managed to get a room for ourselves.. Thanks CL!  Was terribly late as I was doing a pre-wedding videoshoot and the shoot was kind of delayed due to weather & other unforeseen circumstances..

While waiting for our desserts, the ladies started their tasks for me to complete.. Prior to that, the ladies presented me with a gift that is a sexy nightie to wear on my wedding night.. and Waraku is nice enough to throw in a free scoop of ice cream for me!

The games began while having our desserts! 

CL actually asked AH prior the meet up and came up with a list of questions for him.. & I am supposed to have "telepathy" with AH to make sure I come out with the same answer as him.. 

Got the first question wrong and they made me take photo with the most "handsome" guy at the next room.. Thankfully the people next door already "arrowed" a guy without me asking.. The moment I stepped into their room, all the friends just pointed at the guy.. Mission accomplished effortlessly!

Next we adjourned to Esplanade, initially wanted to chill out at Harry's bar but the place was fully occupied and we moved on to Sauce. Initially they wanted to "sabo" me by asking me to take photos with random guys in the bar, but came a bunch of laywers from one of the top law firms who volunteered themselves.. They wanted to treat us to beer and sit with us, we gracefully declined.. The plans that the girls had for me were effortlessly "performed" by this random group of drunk lawyers.. Have to say some of them are good looking despite being irritably drunk..

The last part of the party was they actually arranged AH to come to surprise me.. But I saw him from far before he even arrived.. Epic failure! But I really appreciate their effort for arranging AH to the party, saved us from the drunk lawyers.. They immediately left after seeing him arrive.. LOL!

The best part of Hen's party is Gabriel Lynch popped by (thanks to the drunk lawyers) and serenaded me with a song! He played the guitar and sang a song for me! 

Had a great night out with the ladies. Thanks babes for the wonderful night!!! SO BLESSED! :)

Groomsmen Attire

AH has FINALLY confirmed who are his band of brothers for our AD... He likes my idea of wearing casual for gate crashing and then formal for our banquet.. Seeing that the girls have nice bling bling pink tank tops, AH also wants some unique t-shirt for his boys..

AH has this Superman t-shirt given to him by one of his colleagues..and he was inspired by the church youth camp t-shirt (which is a J superman logo - J for Jesus).. so he asked me if I have any way to change the letter "S" to "G" (groomsmen) and print them on this blue t-shirt.

Thank GOD for wonderful colleagues! I asked my IT executive in my workplace to modify the logo..and she gave me a very nice design!! Ok, now will need to source for nice and fitting t-shirts for the guys.. not too loose kind else they look like construction workers.. can't be too tight fitting as not or most do not have nice bodies.. LOL

We are currently contemplating the evening wear for the guys.. Some options as below..

1. Purple shirt with black skinny tie

Collagen power!

Started drinking Fancl's Tensed-up EX since beginning of May.. and it's coming to a month to complete my first batch of drink... Besides the collagen drink, I bought some whitening pills as well.. Beauty really comes with a price.. the bill came up to a whooping $200+ for 1 month supply of drinks and pills..

Surprisingly, my mom got hooked with this collagen drink fad as well.. she is now a live testimony of the drinks & pills since the pigmentation on her face disappeared.. and the best thing is, she gave me a bottle of her whitening pills! She bought her supplies from Watsons and they have this promotion (free 1 bottle of 100 whitening pills with 1 pack,10 bottles, of collagen drink)..

I'm just gonna try this beauty regime till AD is over.. the process of swallowing 6 pills a day is quite tormenting.. given the fact that I HATE to swallow pills.. The drink is quite tasty, apple yoghurt flavour.
